Do you have a 20/20 Vision?
By Alicia Moneyhun, VP at Planner Hero
My favorite takeaway from #pcmacl 2020 was “Prepare everyone for the journey you’re headed out on and they will remain calm.” – Bozoma Saint John
You can help yourself remain calm throughout the year by creating a vision board now for what you want to accomplish in 2020. I recommend having a separate board for your personal and professional visions. Here are a few tips in creating your board :
• Simple is Best : no more than 3 things per vision (ex: 3 for personal, 3 for professional)
• Broad Strokes : don’t be too specific. Example: if you are ready for a job change, do not put a title on your board. Instead, focus on the kind of work you would like to be doing or the kind of team you would like to be a part of.
• Make it Visible : put your board in a visible place. Either on your bathroom mirror, or on the wall behind your computer screen – somewhere you will see it every day to remind yourself and remain focused.
• Grab a Partner : have a friend or work colleague make a board too. Then check-in with each other every week or month – whatever is best for you.
As a leader, a teammate, a spouse, a parent, a friend, a mentor and all other roles you have the opportunity to be throughout 2020, I wish you the best. And I hope you can attend Convening Leaders 2021 in Houston and be inspired for 2021 – I plan to be there too!
