Engagement, Multiplied: How to tap all the Senses for More Compelling Conventions by Andrea Driessen

Conventions that fully hit the mark are multisensory. The spoken word is augmented with relevant visuals—created by speakers and by participants. The alluring aroma of food builds delicious, recallable memories of the moment. A customer’s testimonial read aloud taps our hard-wired love of story and community. Product demos spawn kinesthetic experiences that seal learning and tap fresh parts of our imaginations. Moments of surprise are multisensory hits, as surprise is scientifically proven to intensify our emotional experiences and boost recall of these experiences. Song lyrics aren’t just fun; they also help us remember, say, an otherwise seemingly complex organizational mission.

Join us to learn an easy-to-implement process for designing meetings that cater to all five senses. First, we’ll watch an on-point TED talk. Then, using its framework, you’ll create an individual action plan for boosting attendees’ engagement and attention at future meetings. These insights apply to both planners and suppliers, so don’t miss it.

Learner outcomes:

  • Understand how tapping all our senses boosts memories and learning
  • Experience a multisensory meeting in real time
  • Apply insights on multisensory design from the TED talk to your own events, and return to work with a detailed plan to do exactly that.

Flip the Script: 3 Habits to Radically Increase Productivity and Potential

Dr. Coyte Cooper
This keynote talk is designed to outline 3 simple, impactful steps that any event and meeting professional can take to radically increase their productivity levels and potential. It will teach audience members to flip the script and negative habits so they can be more balanced, focused, ENERGIZED motivated and passionate on a daily basis.

Listen LOUDER than you Speak

Dr. Andrea Luoma

What do to when you struggle with people not paying attention to you or your message? Or do you have to repeat yourself multiple times? First, understand the three conversational levels each requiring a different level of trust: Level I – Transactional, requires no trust, and where executives spend 90% of their day. Level II – Positional, requires minimal trust, and where sales people spend 70% of their day. And Level III – Transformational, requires full trust, yet many never get here. From this starting point, learn to build or rebuild trust, and more effective conversations for better relationships, teams, and organizations.

Activity: Evaluate the amount of time you spend in each Level of Conversation in an average day; and practice attempting to stay in a Level III convo.

Objectives:

1)     Gain insight into how your brain and body work for and against you in all interactions

2)     Learn and distinguish the three conversational levels

3)     Recognize the necessity of trust and safety in every conversation
